FOUNDATION

The Foundation Boinas La Encartada Kultur Ingurunea emerged in 2006 with the aim of preserving, disseminating and managing the site of the old La Encartada Beret Factory, situated on the outskirts of Balmaseda (Bizkaia).

For a decade, the restoration of the complex for its being used as a museum has been led by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Town Council of Balmaseda, co-sponsors and promoters of the Foundation, which from now on will be in charge of the Revaluation Project for Boinas La Encartada Museum, as well as its exploitation and exhibition.

Once the first stage of the renovation project was completed, the museum opened on 10th January 2007. The initial services offered include the visit to the ground and first floors of the factory-museum, opening the cafeteria and adapting the natural area of the estate as a recreation area. The improvement works on the old houses and the chapel which will complete the Museum will start soon. All this effort is aimed at creating a complex which brings together heritage preservation, cultural provision and the necessary services for the site.
